PANKEKI collaborates with selected artists whose work reflects a blend of tradition and modernity influenced by Asian folk art, anime/manga, pop culture, vibrant colours and playfulness. The concept was originally inspired by the ‘superflat’ movement (coined and popularised by Takashi Murakami). Similarly, we want to challenge the boundaries around art by blurring the distinction between high and low culture in order to be accessible to everyone.

Through curated group exhibitions, solo exhibitions, pop-up events, collaborations and publications, our intention is to create an exciting, welcoming space full of opportunities for local and international artists to grow. This is how we can help pave a way for this style of art, which is often overlooked and misunderstood in Australia.
