Title: Aimee
Year: 2025
Medium: Acrylic paint on canvas
Size: 10 × 10 × 3.6cm

Aimee is a girl who wants to be loved, but her nails are sharp and she can't be pampered. The name was taken from the Japanese kanji reading “Ai,” which means love, and “me,” which means me.

Makita Namina is a Japanese freelance illustrator who fuses pop-pastel palettes with ’90s shōjo-manga flair, filling her universe with wide-eyed girls. With a touch of retro charm, her marker-drawn characters create an exuberant “cuteness overload” that often leaps off the page as paper-clay or sofubi figures.
